The Mini DisplayPort is a miniaturized version of the DisplayPort interface. It was first used by Apple in revisions of the MacBook, MacBook Air, and MacBook Pro notebooks, iMac, Mac Mini, and Mac Pro desktops, Xserve servers, and 24-inch Apple Cinema Display since October 14, 2008.On 13 April 2010, Apple added support for audio output using Mini DisplayPort in their MacBook Pro product line. The change in the Mini DisplayPort ports on Apple MacBook Pro notebooks will make connecting a MacBook Pro to an HDTV a little easier.
